Leadership Adjourns Plenary Sessions to April
This week’s plenary meetings have been deferred to 5th April to allow all committees to finalize their reports, Deputy Co-chair of the National Dialogue, Hon. Gabriel Yoah said yesterday. About 30 members of the National Dialogue Steering Committee attended the plenary function.
Members were called to session on Tuesday to enable leaders of sub-committees to present their findings from the field to the general assembly and solicit their feedback. While a large number of the ND sub-committees have submitted their completed reports to the Secretariat, others lag behind. The decision to postpone the Steering Committee gives ample time to the unfinished committees to prepare for the events.
The Plenary deliberations in April will pave way for regional conferences to kick-off. These summits are crucial in that delegates to the National Dialogue Conference would be nominated from here. The latter body is the highest decision-making body to consider regional resolutions and emerging pressing issues from the consultations.
The National Conference is expected to present a document that summarizes the people’s views and invites all stakeholders to decide on a credible mechanism to implement National Dialogue recommendations.
